About

Background:Saraswati's journey begins in the remote Himalayan village of Kalagaun, nestled amidst the rugged terrain of Salyan, Nepal. Born into a family of farmers, her parents sought better opportunities and migrated to India in 2017, where they found work as laborers. However, their hopes were overshadowed by the grip of alcoholism, ultimately leading to the tragic loss of Saraswati's mother to liver cirrhosis in 2019. At just 1.5 years old, Saraswati, along with her siblings Puja and an elder brother, faced the harsh realities of life without parental guidance.

Current Situation:With resilience and determination, their father relocated the family to the Indian Himalayan region of Ladakh, where he now works as a road worker, navigating the challenges of extreme weather and meager wages. Saraswati and her siblings endured a childhood marked by neglect and malnutrition until finding refuge at Amrita-Seattle, a beacon of hope amidst adversity. Saraswati has been under the care and support of Amrita-Seattle for two years now.

Character Traits:Despite her challenging upbringing, Saraswati exudes vitality and curiosity. She is healthy, bright, and active, with an insatiable thirst for knowledge. Saraswati approaches each day with excitement, eager to explore new ideas and experiences. Her resilience in the face of adversity is a testament to her strength of character.

Dreams and Aspirations:Saraswati's father holds onto the hope that his daughter will receive the quality education and support she deserves, ultimately transforming the trajectory of their family's life. Saraswati's dreams are as vast as the Himalayan peaks that surround her. With each day of learning, she inches closer to realizing her potential and shaping a brighter future for herself and her loved ones.

Impact:Saraswati's story serves as a reminder of the transformative power of education and the resilience of the human spirit. Through her journey, she not only embodies hope but also inspires others to believe in the possibility of change. With the right support and opportunities, Saraswati is poised to make a meaningful impact not only in her own life but also in the lives of those around her, creating a ripple effect of positivity and empowerment in her community and beyond.
