About the event
Each month, Amrita-Seattle prepares and serves nutritious hot meals to homeless teens and youth in Seattle through partnerships with U-District Teen Feed, ROOTS Shelter, and University Street Ministry.
The Hot Meal Program provides more than just food; it offers youth a safe space for respite, emotional support, and connection. Over a shared meal, trained advocates and support coordinators help link youth to the resources and services they need to move toward stability.
During meal service, guests benefit from a supportive "family" of Teen Feed and ROOTS Shelter staff and volunteers. This caring community serves as a consistent resource hub, sounding board, and space for socialization. The program also offers essential services, including referrals to shelter, warm clothing, bus tickets, and other basic needs items.
